Website Competition Monitor
See where your website is ahead of your competitors' websites.
Competition Monitor compares your website with the websites of your 2 competitors, every month. It looks at two numbers: estimated visitors from Google per month, and authority out of 100. Where your website is ahead, a short green note under the tile says so, such as “60× more than Parkside Property Co.”. It is part of Premium. It only measures: nothing changes on your website or on theirs.
Visitors and authority
A green note when your website is ahead
On Premium, Competition Monitor measures the websites of your 2 competitors every month. It compares two of your five website tiles with theirs: Visitors per month and Authority. The notes sit under those tiles on the Keywords, Linking sites and Best pages pages of Your website.
Visitors per month is the estimated number of visitors your website gets from Google. When yours is at least 1.5 times a competitor's, the note says how many times more, such as “2.7× more than …” or “60× more than Parkside Property Co.”. The number is rounded down: to one decimal below 10, to a whole number from 10. With 2 competitors behind you, the note names the biggest lead.
Authority is your score out of 100, based on the sites that link to you. When it is higher than a competitor's, the note says “higher than Parkside Property Co.”. It names the strongest competitor you beat.
- Visitors note from 1.5 times a competitor's visitors
- Authority note when your score is higher
- Only where you are ahead: never a loss
- Your competitors' own figures are not shown
- Measured every month, without you doing anything

Google Search
Your website's spot next to theirs, search by search
Visitors and authority are totals for a whole website. Google Rank Tracker compares your website with theirs search by search. Pick a search after “User searches for”, and the Website column of Where are you on Google? gives the spot of your website and of each competitor's website in Google's first 10 web results. A grey dash means Google did not show that website.
Arrows show how many places each website moved since the check before. The Strongest competitor tile looks further than your two. It names the other website that Google shows on most of your searches, with its average position. Premium checks every search you follow, every week.
- Website: your spot and theirs in the first 10 web results
- A grey dash: Google did not show that website
- Arrows: places moved since the check before
- Strongest competitor: the other website on most of your searches
- Every search you follow, every week on Premium

Frequently asked questions
Can I see how much traffic my competitors' websites get?
Not as a number. Every month, Competition Monitor estimates the visitors from Google of your 2 competitors' websites and compares them with yours. When yours is at least 1.5 times theirs, the Visitors per month tile says so, such as “2.7× more than …”. Their own figure is not shown.
Can I compare my website's authority with my competitors'?
Yes, as a note. When your authority is higher than a competitor's, the Authority tile names the strongest competitor you beat, such as “higher than Parkside Property Co.”. Their scores are not shown, and there is no note when your score is lower.
Which competitor websites are compared?
The websites of the 2 competitors of your location. As soon as a location is on Premium, it gets the two businesses nearest to it in its main category on Google. You can change them up to twice per calendar month per location. Their website comes from their Google business details. A competitor without a website of its own is skipped: no website, a page on a social network, review, booking or delivery site, or the same website as yours.
Can I compare with more than 2 competitors?
No. Competition Monitor compares 2 competitors per location. The Strongest competitor tile in Google Rank Tracker looks further than your two: it names the other website that Google shows on most of your searches.
How often are the figures updated?
Every month on Premium. Figures older than 30 days are fetched again automatically, for your website and for theirs. A location that just switched to Premium is checked straight away. A fetch that fails is tried again later, at the earliest after 6 hours. Under the page heading you see the date of your figures and of the next update.
Are the figures exact?
No. Visitors per month and authority are estimates, based on Google's search results and a large index of links. Every tool counts in its own way, so numbers differ between tools. Your website and your competitors' websites are measured with the same data.
Can I see my competitors' keywords, pages or links?
No. Competition Monitor compares visitors and authority only. Your competitors' keywords, best pages and linking sites are not shown. On Premium, your own keywords, best pages and linking sites are on the Your website pages.
Does it work for every location?
Your location needs a website of its own. Authority works in every country. Visitors per month needs a country the data covers. Elsewhere the tile says “Not available in this country” and there is no visitors note. Nothing is ever changed on your website or on your competitors' websites.
How much does it cost?
Competition Monitor is part of Premium: €19.95 per location per month or €199 per location per year (save 17%), excl. VAT. Cancel any time. Free shows your own visitors and authority, without competitors.
