Authority Monitor
How strong is your website? One score out of 100.
Authority Monitor gives your website one score from 0 to 100: its authority. The score is based on the sites that link to your website, and on how strong those sites are themselves. Free shows your score on the Your website pages and in your free report. Premium updates it by itself every month, shows how strong each linking site is and tells you when you beat a competitor.
Your score
Your website's authority, as one score out of 100
The Authority tile shows how strong your website is, from 0 to 100, as a number and as a ring: “19 of 100”. Other tools call this domain authority or domain rating. The score is based on the sites that link to your website, and on how strong those sites are themselves.
The score belongs to your website, not to one location. Locations on the same website share one score, and it is the same in every country and language. A location with only a Facebook or Instagram page has no website of its own, so it gets no score.
On Premium, Authority Monitor also measures the websites of your 2 competitors, every month. When your score is higher than a competitor's, a short note under the tile says so, such as “higher than Parkside Property Co.”. It names the strongest competitor you beat. Their own scores are not shown.
- Your score from 0 to 100, with a ring
- One score per website, shared by its locations
- The same score in every country
- Premium: “higher than …” when you beat a competitor
- Date of the figures and of the next update under the heading

Linking sites
See which linking sites carry your score
Your score is built from your linking sites, so Premium also shows how strong each one is. The Strongest links table gives each site that links to you its own authority from 0 to 100, strongest first.
Set the Authority filter, such as from 40 up to 100, to see only your strongest linking sites. A site whose score is not known shows “—” and comes last.
Your score follows your linking sites: it changes when sites start or stop linking to you, or get stronger or weaker themselves. Backlinks Monitor shows how many sites came and went in each of the last 12 months.
- Authority of each linking site, from 0 to 100
- Strongest sites first, up to 1,000
- Filter: Authority from and up to
- Included in Premium

Free report
Your score in your free report, as Domain Rating
Your free report shows your authority as Domain Rating, in its Google & SEO part. It sits next to two other numbers of your website: Linking sites, the number of sites that link to you, and Spot 1 in Google, the number of keywords your site is first for.
One location per account gets the free report. Every Premium location gets its own. The report reads the same figures as the Authority tile, so both show the same score.
- Domain Rating: your score from 0 to 100
- Linking sites: how many sites link to you
- Spot 1 in Google: keywords your site is first for
- Free for 1 location per account

Frequently asked questions
What is website authority?
Website authority is a score from 0 to 100 for how strong a whole website is. Authority Monitor works it out from the sites that link to your website and how strong those sites are themselves. More linking sites, and stronger ones, give a higher score. Other tools call it domain authority or domain rating.
What is a good authority score?
There is no fixed good score. A score says most next to the websites you compete with. That is why Premium also measures the websites of your 2 competitors, and tells you when your score is higher than one of theirs.
Is the authority score a Google score?
No. Google does not publish a score like this. Authority is an estimate, worked out from a large index of links on the web. Every tool builds its own index and formula, so scores from different tools differ.
How often is my authority score updated?
On Premium, every month: a score older than 30 days is measured again automatically, together with your competitors' websites. A location that just switched to Premium is checked straight away. On Free, a new measurement starts in the background when you open a Your website page and the score is missing or over a month old, for up to 3 websites per account per day. Under the page heading you see the date of the figures and the date of the next update.
Can I compare my authority with my competitors?
Partly. On Premium, Authority Monitor measures the websites of your 2 competitors, every month. When your score is higher than one of theirs, the Authority tile names the strongest competitor you beat, such as “higher than Parkside Property Co.”. Their own scores are not shown, and there is no note when no competitor scores lower. A competitor without a website of its own is skipped.
Can I see my authority score over time?
Not as a chart. Authority Monitor shows your current score with the date it was measured. To follow your linking sites over time, the Last 12 months chart in Backlinks Monitor shows how many sites started and stopped linking to you, month by month. That chart is part of Premium.
Can I check my website authority for free?
Yes. Free shows your score in the Authority tile, and your free report shows it as Domain Rating, next to your linking sites. Your competitors' websites and the authority of each linking site come with Premium: €19.95 per location per month or €199 per location per year, excl. VAT. Cancel any time.
