Competition Monitor
See where your competitors beat you, and where you beat them.
Competition Monitor compares your location with two competitors on four points: your average spot on Google Maps, how often Google Search shows you, how often AI assistants name you, and your Google reviews. Only general searches count, such as your category, never your own name. Every Premium location starts with the two nearest businesses in its main category, and the numbers update every week.

Google Maps
Who wins the map, place by place
Under every map, You vs competitors puts you and your two competitors in one table, over the same places of the same map. A business that is not in the top 20 at a place counts as spot 21 there, so a competitor that shows up at one place does not beat you when you are 4th everywhere.
Switch the map to a competitor and every place shows their spot instead of yours. Every other business on the map is listed below it, best average spot first.
- Avg. spot: over every place where Google gave an answer
- Best spot: the highest spot on any place of the map
- Top 3: on how many places, and how often first
- Rating: Google stars and number of reviews

Google Search
Your competitors on every Google search you follow
Pick any search you follow in Google Rank Tracker and your two competitors sit under your own row. For each of them you see the spot of their website in the first 10 web results, their spot in the block of businesses with the map, their social media in the results, and whether Google showed their business profile or named them in the AI Overview. Arrows show how many places each of them moved since the check before.
The Strongest competitor tile looks further than your two. It names the other website that Google shows on most of your searches, with its average position.

AI answers
See when AI assistants name a competitor instead of you
AI Assistant Tracker asks Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity your name question, your category question and up to 5 questions of your own. When an answer names you or one of your two competitors, they are marked and always stay in view, never hidden under “+2”.
The Named by AI line on Overview counts how many answers name each business. Only general questions count, such as the question about your category, so a question with your own name never tips the scale. Premium asks every week, Claude once every 30 days.

Frequently asked questions
What does Competition Monitor compare?
Four points: your average spot on Google Maps, how many times Google Search shows you, how many AI answers name you, and your Google rating. On each line the best business gets a green check. The trophy goes to the business that is best on most lines.
How are my competitors chosen?
As soon as a location is on Premium, it gets the two businesses nearest to it in its main category on Google as competitors. You do not have to do anything. You can change them up to twice per calendar month per location.
Can I choose my own competitors?
Yes. Click Change on a competitor's card. You get the 5 nearest businesses in your category, each marked with how often it is in the top 3 on your maps and how many AI answers name it, when your results saw it. Or search a business by name. You can change up to twice per calendar month per location. Filling an empty place does not count.
Why does my own name not count?
A search for your name almost always finds you, and nobody finds your competitors with your name. So Competition Monitor only counts general searches: your category, and your own keywords and questions without your name. You and your competitors are counted over exactly the same results.
How often is the comparison updated?
Every week on Premium, with every new map, Google check and AI answer. Claude answers once every 30 days. A location that switches to Premium is checked straight away.
Can I compare with more than 2 competitors?
No, Competition Monitor compares 2 competitors per location. Below every map, every other business on that map is listed, best average spot first, so you still see who else shows up around you.
How much does Competition Monitor cost?
Competition Monitor is part of Premium: €19.95 per location per month, or €199 per location per year (save 17%). Prices excl. VAT, cancel any time. Your free report puts you next to your two nearest competitors once, for free.
