Google Rank Tracker
See where you stand in Google, for every search that brings customers.
Google Rank Tracker checks your position in Google Search for your business name, your category and up to 10 keywords of your own. It searches like a customer on a phone in your town and reads Google's first page: the web results, the block of businesses with the map, the business profile and the AI Overview. On Premium this runs every week, with your two competitors next to you.
All your searches
Every search you follow, in one table
Premium always follows two searches: your business name with your town, and your main category with your town, such as “estate agent Muswell Hill”. On top of that you add up to 10 keywords of your own, each up to 5 words, and pick the town each one is searched from. Suggestions for your category and town help you start. A new Premium location with a website starts with up to 3 of them filled in: the keywords without your name that bring its website the most visitors from Google, by estimate.
The Overview table gives each search one row. Click a row and the card above it shows that search for you and your competitors. A row that is not checked yet, still being checked or failed says so, instead of an empty spot.
- Website: the spot of your own site in the first 10 web results
- Businesses: your spot in the block of businesses with the map, the local pack
- Social media: an icon for each profile of yours in the results, such as Instagram or LinkedIn
- Also in Google: an icon when Google showed your business profile, and one when its AI Overview named you
- Arrows: how many places you moved up or down since the check before
- A grey dash: Google did not show you there

Competitors
Your two competitors on the same search
Pick a search after “User searches for” and the table Where are you on Google? puts you and your two competitors side by side. For each business you see the spot of its website, its spot in Businesses, its social media in the results, its business profile and whether the AI Overview names it. Arrows show how each of them moved since the check before.
Your two competitors are the same on the map, on Google and in AI answers: the two nearest businesses in your main category, until you change them in Competition Monitor. Open in Google opens the same search on Google, so you can look at the page yourself.

At a glance
Four numbers tell you how you do on Google
Four tiles at the top of the page sum up your category and your own keywords. Your name search is left out, because there you are usually first.
Average position is your average best spot, in the web results or in Businesses. Best search gives your highest spot and the search it is for. On page 1 of Google counts the searches where Google shows you on its first page, such as “4 of 6”. Strongest competitor, on Premium, names the other website that Google shows on most of your searches, with its average position.
Premium checks every search again every week, automatically. A location that switches to Premium is checked straight away.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Google rank tracker?
A Google rank tracker checks where your business appears in Google Search for a search, the way customers see it. Google Rank Tracker does this for your business name, your category and up to 10 keywords of your own, and records your spot on Google's first page.
Where does the search run from?
From your town, as a customer on a phone. Google gives different results in different places, so each check searches from the town of your location, or from the town you picked for a keyword. It uses the Google of your country, such as google.co.uk in the UK.
What is the difference between Website and Businesses?
Website is the spot of your own website in Google's first 10 web results. Businesses is your spot in the block of businesses with the map, also called the local pack. You can be in both on the same search, so the table shows both.
Does it track Google's AI Overview?
Yes. For every search it records whether Google showed an AI Overview, and whether it named you and your two competitors. View answer opens the text of the AI Overview. ChatGPT, Gemini and the other AI assistants are in AI Assistant Tracker.
How many keywords can I track?
On Premium your name and your category are always tracked. On top of that you add up to 10 keywords of your own per location, each up to 5 words, with the town you choose. Up to 3 of them can also get a map in Google Maps Tracker.
How often are my rankings updated?
Every week on Premium, automatically. A location that switches to Premium is checked straight away, and a keyword you add is checked from the next weekly check. Each row shows how many places you moved since the check before.
Is there a free Google rank checker?
Yes. Your free check looks up your category and town on Google once, such as “bakery Islington”: your spot in the web results and in Businesses, your business profile and the AI Overview. Weekly checks of all your searches come with Premium: €19.95 per location per month or €199 per location per year, excl. VAT. Cancel any time.
